CAB Building
The Greener Bookstore is located in the College Activities Building (CAB), which is being remodeled for a September 2010 opening. This building has many environmental features resulting in the Silver Leed certification including:
A cistern collecting over 28,000 gallons of water to be used in the building.
Porous asphalt
Reflective roofing materials
Heat recovery for the food service area
Low flow toilets
Water recovery systems for food service area
Water efficient fixtures
Reuse of materials
Greener Bookstore recycles all of its excess cardboard packing materials. Besides reusing these materials for our own use we bring all materials to a recycling center. We also reuse as much packing material as possible, keeping these items out of landfills as well.
Bags
The best bag is a reusable bag. The Greener Bookstore each year gives away over 1500 free recycled plastic tote bags to the incoming class, perfect for carrying around textbooks and more. We encourage students to use these, as they cut down on the number of plastic bags we need to distribute.
The other plastic bags we give out in the store are made from 100% recycled film. We encourage you to reuse them, and return them to the store for recycling when finished.
Water bottles
We sell BPA free water bottles both plastic and steel. We encourage these to be used in efforts to "ban the bottle" and use local supplies of drinking water instead of relying on transportation of water for casual drinking.

Clothing
The Greener Bookstore sells clothing from a wide variety of sources, but we only carry items from suppliers that are produced in conjunction with the Workers Rights Consortium and the Fair Labor Association standards. These organizations are dedicated to monitoring factory conditions in factories around the globe, and protecting the rights of workers.
